Poverty is a challenge that is brought about by lack of finances and the ability to manoever in the society. It simply means 'to lack something '. In most cases, poverty is associated with financial stability. As resources are important to the growth of an individual, the monetary stability is a challenge that continues to strike most homesteads in the society.
In this article, I will discuss the reasons why people end up becoming poorer in life. The reasons are:
1. Lack of financial budget plan
It's good when someone has a plan how to spend his or her money. However, most people buy things they don't need. For instance, you will meet ladies buying dresses at the streets after seeing them for the first time. It's good when visiting a shop to have a written document or paper which has list of things you desire to buy. In the list you will indicate the prices and how much will be spend that day. This is a challenge as most of the products are marketed in an unique way. Lack of discipline in money spending causes a long term enslavement of poverty.
2. Bad peers
It's good having friends and creating a company which can help you in times of problems. Despite this, most people aren't reliable and can lead you to financial crisis. Of course money is the key to all development in this society. Whenever a friend advises you to spend most of your cash in alcohol and partying, that's not a right choice of a friend. A right ally leads you to solving the society problems not the vice versa. Worst friends ensures that you remain low. Some friends even have high paying jobs or lucrative businesses but they can't show the way to try the financial way of succeeding.
3. Bearing many children
In African traditions society, children were regarded as source of wealth for the family. The man was the head of the family. The land was abundant and children were born without limit. The boys and girls were trained on how to till the land and make their families respectively. In current world, the more children you have, the more financial financial constraints you're faced. Bearing many children is a burden especially to individuals who have no stable financial strength. The poor remains paupers simply because they bring up many children who they can't for them effectively.
4. Lack of regular medical checkups
Illnesses are fundamental to most monetary losses. Some diseases like cancer and HIV / AIDS are fatal in later stages of attack. At that moment, the person has weak immune system and cannot be treated further. Lack of proper guidance in health leads to unexpected deaths. It's effective when you check your health even when you feel okay. The last minute can't save a destroyed immune system. That makes the siblings and family members to exhaust every coin they had saved, invested and borrowed.
5. Spending most of the time sleeping
Sleep is a form of relaxing. However, spending most of hours is a symptom of poverty mindset. There's no formula for success. You only need to wake up and face the world. When you sleep most of hours, you lose opportunity of getting a share in this competitive world. Sleeping more than a seven hours is a threat to your life. Most of your innovative ideas will not become a reality without practising. Poor people fear to risk while the rich love solving the financial risk by being awake most hours.
6. Watching a TV or movie without limit
Televisions, movies and social media platforms are addictive. If you spend most of the time enjoying all programs one by one, then you will never do another task like doing farming. If you lack finances, then you lack stability to sustain yourself and your family. If you lack stability, then you become a beggar. A beggar has an imbalance in his or her life.
7. Lack of savings
Most people are employed, and others have their own businesses. As an employee, it's good to know that losing a job is easier. In businesses, losses are guaranteed as demand and supply are key determinants in the market. Even shares depreciates in all organisations. Apart from investing, saving is an alternative in avoiding poverty in future. You have to understand that a renowned SACCO can be closed anytime and most of your savings to remain a mystery. Most poor mentality people don't cater a certain percentage of the revenue for a purpose of saving. There are many ways to do your savings. One, you can create a box and put few coins or notes everyday for a period of one year. Two, there are banks and Saccos that can help you in savings. The beauty with these financial entities is that they can offer loans thus enabling their customers financial boast.
8. Buying food in hotels than cooking your own
I understand that some jobs and businesses can be far away from our homes. This is a challenge that leads most of us in hotels, eateries and fast food joints. If you calculate most of the money you spend on those foods, you will realise that it is higher than the cash you spend doing a comprehensive shopping. That's why most people who are poorer don't make a progress in their finances.
9. Valuing employment more than self-employment
You can't employment in most cases. Most of the times we desire big things. Those things we love require money and efforts. Most individuals get jobs and relax up to their old age. It's good if you have a way to transition to the next level. A boss can't employ you more than he or she is making. The poorer remain in the same state as they aren't ready to try new roles which bring more money. Self-employment is an avenue where you can dictate on time and how things can be done in your enterprise without restrictions.
10. Blaming others
Challenges are all over. In awake of stressful life, people blame other people for bewitching them or even causing their downfall. Of course the conflict of interest is present but you're 100% responsible for your life. Poor people blame the economy and the leaders they chose themselves.
